Apparently the application for Foundation Trust status (latest forecast was November 2008) will be delayed pending the appointment of a new CEO.

I would hope it is the results of the survey that are prevening BLPT getting Foundation Status but who can ever tell?
Is not like getting Foundation Status proves that a Trust is service user focussed. SLAM (South London and Maudsley) has Foundation Status and I know 2 people who use their services (I write that in the loosest meaning of the term) and say it is a useless MH Trust.
It shouldn't be about what title a MH Trust has been given but the quality of care it provides and that is where things go pear shaped (for service users)
Our local Trust has foundation Trust status, and is apparently one of the top 10 in the country - to which all I can say is Lord help the people who live in areas where it's even worse than it is in ours.
I suspect the delay is while they appoint a new CEO, but since the drive towards Foundation status and changing names to the most ridiculous possible was competition with the private sector, perhaps the whole momentum will slow down a bit- suddenly the private sector seems to have gone VERY quiet about what it can offer the poor old NHS, wonder why that is?
I'm hoping it will all slwo down, marcella. And mandy, I agree with you about the title being unimportant. It's the care provided which is the most important thing.
