Courtesy would be nice... (my head teacher!)

... if you have decided you would likes an external body to take over the running of the website I created from scratch and have run single handed ever since, don't you think it would be nice if you at least discussed this with me before announcing it in a meeting? OK, so you did mention to me (in a 2 minute conversation on the first day back) that you were considering it, but that hardly counts as a discussion, does it?)
... if the meeting you have arranged (in my free lesson, at which I am the only full time teaching member of staff) runs into the lunch hour, would it not be courteous to thank me for giving up my time, and possibly not to suggest discussing an additional matter after the meeting has already taken up 20 minutes of said lunch hour?
... you could even suggest that the time I have been given up might be repaid with another session of non-contact time?
... you could even ask if it is OK to hold another meeting during my non-contact time?
... and maybe you could consider the fact that for the past six years you have taken NO interest in the website - your only past interest was (briefly) in the fact that I had set it up - for you now to be wanting to discuss what its purpose is, what it is for, grates somewhat. Heck, if you ask me I could tell you what my vision is of its purpose. I even told you this when it was set up. But no, you want me to come up with ideas of its purpose now, when you are telling me my services are no longer required.

It's not that I want the extra work of maintaining the school website, you understand. In fact, I have tried to share out this task. But nobody else has any vision for the website, so I have tried to maintain it single handed. I'm quite happy to pass that task on to someone else, and can probably cope without the one hour extra free time each week you have decided is ample for me to do this. But a bit of courtesy would be nice.

Started reading this post from the bottom (no idea why) before I'd read the title...and just KNEW it was going to be your head being tactless and hopeless once again.
Grrrrr.
But maybe good to shed the website and preserve your energy?

Oh, for sure, Kathryn (on all points!)

Sorry he's such a dolt.

Thanks, Marcella. He just seems to have no people management skills - which is a bit of a draw back in his role.

Am doing my best to shrug it off. It helps that I am not the only one who sees him as being hopeless in this area.

so, um, not that it matters but what are his good points? i assume he's crap at teaching (or he wouldn't have got promoted out of the classroom), he's clearly useless with staff....is he good with governors and PFI gurus? do the parents think he's the best thing since Grange Hill's Mrs McLuskey? Do the local LEA hearld him as the bringer of unsurpassed improvements in their national league table status? or is he just a complete total and utter plonker?

lol caroline

He's not a total plonker I guess. The school is succeeding. The parents and governors like him (mostly!) err.... Actually most of the staff like him as a person. And, having HAD the head teacher from Hell (in my previous job), he's (sadly) a lot better than some...

People management skills seem lacking in many managers... I'd love to know why...
I am sure they are good blaggers...who somehow lost the niceties and courtesy they should have...
would he even notice if you treated him the same way he treats you?
