Had read the tragic story of Mr Leedham.
I thought people with suicidal tendencies were put on 1:1 watch when they are in acute care and for sure any potential objects of danger were taken off them.
From the article it would seem that he was left alone in a very fragile state.
I think BLPT need to reassess their risk management procedures and training of staff. I also wonder what the staffing levels were like when he killed himself. Not sure how reliant BLPT are on agency staff but my experience of them, from being in acute care is that they don't give a stuff. Not tht any of this will bring Mr Leedham back and he was left do die.
How many more people will die through neglect?
And I know people can say that if someone wants to kill themselves they will but in an acute care unit,run by a service that is there to save lives, it shouldn't happen.

Yes, I agree that if someone really wants to kill themselves, they will, but like you thought that one of the purposes of acute wards was to prevent that from happening.
It's all very sad.
