Update from the Healthcare Commission

It's actually quite novel for me, in terms of my BLPT complaint experiences, to be getting updates. Even when they were promised, they never materialised without my requesting them. The Healthcare Commission seems much better at this than BLPT are, and it makes a massive amount of difference to the stress involved in the complaint process to be sent updates at the promised points without having to ask for them.

Today I had a letter from my case manager. She tells me that BLPT have failed to provide her with the documentation she requested by the agreed deadline (yesterday). She has given them another 10 working days to do so. This on top of the 20 working days they have already had.

The delay does leave me with questions. I asked for copies of both my Complaints file and my Clinical Notes from the Trust and I have them both. So I fail to see why the same documents cannot be provided by the Trust to the Healthcare Commission. Unless, of course, further work is required on them before they are passed on to such an august (and influential) body. I have offered to send to the case manager my own copies of the files - it might even provide a useful comparison for her, should she decide she wishes to see them.

That is typical BLPT. I can't remember them responding to me within timescales..even ones they set themselves!!!!

God bless'em. But sometimes it's Good to have a true reflection for the HC of what's going on...

Absolutely to both of you!
Yes, Mandy, my experience of BLPT is precisely that of them not sticking to timescales.
And yes, MMP - it does give the HCC a true reflection. Possibly does BLPT no favours wither.
