Crisis teams...

... it wasn't very useful when I tried to phone our local one last night.

The input I received (verbatim, I swear) was:
Me: "I need to talk to someone please."
Them: "Is it a mental health issue?"
Me: "Yes."
Them: "Then you need to go to A&E and ask to see the Crisis team."
Me: "But my CPN told me to phone this number."
Them: "Yes, but we are very busy and I don't have time to talk to you."

huge hug

it'll be no comfort at all but it's not just you or yours. I was quite literally told off for calling our crisis team because they aren't apparently able to help people who are in crisis.....

doh.

hope you found some sort of peaceful safe haven,, thinking of you

I also hope that you found someone more helpful.

Our local crisis team apparently aren't allowed to treat people who are already "in the system" as apparently being treated (as in weekly DBT) means that you won't have a crisis. They also don't treat anyone who has been drinking, anyone on drugs, or anyone over 65, or anyone who hasn't been referred to them by their GP. I guess it's lucky that A&E and the GP out of hours ARE usually quite good in a crisis.

Thinking of you and sending hugs.

Thanks both.
This was the "Out of Hours Duty Desk" who I have spoken to before (and on occasion found helpful). The Crisis team in our area is another beast altogether, running along the lines that you have to be specifically referred to them to use them... Anyway, I've just decided the organisation as a whole is flawed and it is purely a matter of luck if you get someone who actually cares about the people they are supposedly employed to help...

It was a bad bad bad night... regression to all sorts of stuff I thought I had left behind me. Still here, which has to be (so they say) an achievement. Sore arms, sore heart, but still here. A ray of light came from my CPN phoning me, as promised, this afternoon and being very encouraging (and matter of fact) about it all. Target remains to keep myself safe and limit ruminating on the negatives.

Hope that you managed to sleep in the end, and that today has been easier. I'm out with an Indian friend from my time there last year - makes me very aware how far I've travelled in myself this past year too.

It falls into the realms of 'you couldn't make it up'..if you are feeling fragile and vulnerable, someon sayign we are too busy to tlak to you could send you way down...it should nevr have been said, and they should be dismissed forthwith!

Sorry you are having such a tough time, although some things are going well..thank goodness...rememerb, St Albans isn;t far away if you would like to meet up one Saturday for a long coffee...
