Drayton Manor - a near miss...

Today was supposed to be the long delayed birthday treat for H - a trip to Drayton Manor with her friend, F.

All went well to begin with - forecast great, smooth journey... until ... catastrophic car failure.

result 1: day spent waiting for and travelling in AA lorry with car on back
result 2: verdict on car - new engine almost certainly required

Gulp.

Big gulp.

Car now at garage. trip rearranged for next Wednesday, minus husband (who has interview a long way from here on Thursday morning - more gulps) and plus friend of E's, hopefully, in addition to H's friend and E and H themselves.

I'm still standing (remember that song?) It's given me another focus, more to think about, more opportunities to practise...

I'm now debating my planned genealogy trip to London tomorrow - everything is crowding in, lots of things planned and happening, and a quiet(ish) day at home, with a trip to the gym, is sounding a more nurturing way of being.

Sorry it was such a difficult day. My dear green car died spectacularly on the motorway on our way back from holiday a couple of years back and it is not a happy experience.
All best wishes for the second attempt. Perhaps a quiet day tomorrow would be a better idea than London.

Thank you marcella.

I think a period of retreat is needed - there is a lot going on next week, and school starts the week after that, so a bit of quiet may well be the best idea.

Sorry it didn't go as planned...I was thinking of you all day...
new engine...does that equate to new car?
hopefully next weeks attempt will go smoothly.
We've been having a quiet day today too...
hugs

Hi Katie

No, new car would be even more expensive than new engine... Though it might be quicker.

Have found out will have to hire a car to go to Drayton Manor next week. It all feels much too difficult right now.
