(Note - I was dropping younger daughter off at school when deptuy head raced out to my car - he must have been watching for me fromt he window.)
DH: Your pigeonhole hs got so full while you have been off that we have had to take everything out.
Me: OK.
DH: Would you like to take all the contents with you to sort out?
Me: not really.
DH: Do you want me to throw them away?
Me: No - there may be things I need when I return.
DH: So do you want to sort them out or should I keep them till you return?
Hmmm - like to guess my answer? (It was polite - on reflection, it was probably too polite. But at least I didn't agree to take the work home.)
Come to think of it, most of it is probably "stuff" put in from school management...

I don't think this guy is coping very well with his job! He obviously hasn't a clue as to appropriate ways of staff management - did he get the promotion because he was a hopeless teacher as well and the powers that be wanted to promote him out of harms way?
The sad thing is he is a really good teacher and actually a nice bloke. I think he just isn't very good at the people management part.
Well done on not agreeing to take the work home.
Sometimes I think people can't see beyond the tasks and minor details that clutter their daily world and become blind to human feelings and fail to grasp the situation. Perhaps your tips on what not to say/ do would be helpful to them... :)
Hope you're having a good day, Katie
It's late in your part of our global village as I write this....hope all is moving forward and you're doing well..... :)
Thanks, Dana.
All is moving forward. I've been thinking, and doing, more effectively and positively. It's good stuff.
Katie, I would love to pass on my tips - but they probably wouldn't be received particularly well - rather, defensively! On the other hand, the head teacher does seem to have taken on board comments I made and is being supportive and protective.
