Where are you, God
In this slimy pit of self hatred?
Where are your loving arms
And why don't you pull us out?
Why are we here, God?
And why are you leaving us here
Alone in the darkness again?
Is it our ugliness that makes you abandon us
Like fly-festered corpses left to rot in a field?
Is it our sinfulness that means you can't touch us
In your holiness, perfection, and magnificent glory?
You cured the leper, welcomed the harlot,
Gave light to the blind and cuddled the children
So why can't you bear to heal me?
