Cuts in services

A report from a subcommittee of BLPT board indicates that Art therapy is due to end in WAMH. The report declares:

There was no evidence the service was effective in SPLD or CAMHS; further work was needed in these areas. It was agreed that, as there was apparently no evidence to prove the effectiveness of this service, the suggestion was that the service in WAMHS should close, subject to any evidence to the contrary upon consultation.

I think this is a great pity. Results cannot always be measured and quantified, particularly when it comes to quality of life issues. Perhaps BLPT should reconsider spending moeny on recruiting support for FT status in favour of actually serving those in need.

Hi C

There is a pattern emerging here with BLPT. Everytime they are told (I think by inspecting government bodies) that a particular service is ineffective they close it, rather than try and improve it.

Rather defeatest of BLPT but more so a disgusting contravention of their 'Duty of Care'.

I think this is all to do with wanting Foundation Status...so they offload services they are below par at delivering.

Seems quite a bit of offloading is going to be taking place!!!!!
