After a while... you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul,
And you learn... that love doesn't mean leaning and company doesn't mean security,
And you begin... to learn that kisses aren't contracts and presents aren't promises,
And you begin... to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes open, with the grace of an adult,
And you learn... to build all your roads on today because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans,
After a while... you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much.
So plant your own garden... and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn... that you really can endure... that you really are strong, and you really do have worth....!

caroline, that is beautiful..you commented on my blog - saying I make you laugh, which makes he happy!!! - and I have found your blog and have read back right to the start. How much you have in common, sadly with my lvoly friend caroline, so many of your entries could have been written by her...my thoughts and prayers go out to you, and a large virtula hug xxx
Thank you, Sally - both for making me laugh and for your response here.
I came to blogging through Caroline's blog. I read hers to the beginning too, and realised that many of our experiences were similar.
Thank you for the hug. I always appreciate hugs.
that's a beautiful quote - thank you for that and thank you for joining the blogging world. I hate that any one has to recognise any part of any thing that i have written, but it's lovely to meet you here....
take care of you, and keeping heading for the sunlight.
hug

(((Caroline))) I know what you mean about shared pain, but it is there and it is better recognised than otherwise, I believe.
Wish we had some sunlight to head for here - it's gone grey and drizzly and overcast, which is not helping my mood. Mind you, going into school yesterday wasn't helpful either...
GREAT quote!
I may post a version of that in my office......in bright big letters!
Wow - thanks for sharing that. And thank you for sharing your stories. I've arrived here via Caroline and have read back like Sally. And now you pop in to my thoughts and prayers throughout the day!
I moved from the UK to the heart of the "bible belt" in the USA 2.5years ago when I got married. I'd been seeing a great counsellor and finally working through a lot of deep stuff and didn't feel ready for the end (although I knew it was coming - sorry, I'm commenting on multiple posts here!) There are times now where I feel I've forgotten all I learnt - old patterns of relating to others are hard to break. And it's been lonely without friends over here - blogland has kept me connected to some caring friends back home who have often been a life line.
So, I'm glad to have you here and I'll journey with you! May you feel the sustaining hug of God sometime in the midst of your day. thoughts & hugs sent your way from over here!
Rachel
