set backs

I heard today that a colleague at school (a supply teacher who is often in) has told my class that I am off work with stress. It appears that rumours have already spread; my 12 year old who is a student at same school was asked if it was true that i was off work because i have had a "mental breakdown".

It doesn't make it any easier to face going back to work.

fwiw, my teenagers seem to consider teachers being off work for stress as an almost normal part of life (let's not even think through what this implies about the state of the education system) - so I suspect that there is far less interest and unhelpful gossip than you'd imagine.

You don't HAVE to go back yet, do you? Maybe try not to focus on hurdles ahead, which may be smaller than your fears make them.

And I'm still praying.

Thank you, kathryn. Yes, stress is a huge part of teaching these days. But the gossip is there, and that is hard to cope with.

You're right about focusing on the now and not on future hurdles, though.

And I thank you for the prayers.
